San Francisco Wedding at Swedenborgian Church
Penny + David
Our first meeting with Penny and David could not have gone any better. From the start, we could tell that they were an amazing fun, loving couple and they were excited to tell us all about their stories of how they met while each dropping off mutual friend’s dachshunds at the same time after babysitting them and their epic proposal at sunset on top of Mt Haleakala in Maui. When they told us that for the wedding there were going to be bagpipes and kilts involved, we knew we absolutely could not wait for their San Francisco wedding at Swedenborgian Church.
Getting Ready at Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco
Penny + David opted to get ready bright and early at the Fairmont Hotel in the heart of San Francisco. We loved capturing all the details from David’s full blown kilt with all the accessories to Penny’s unique wedding shoes. We loved the fact that David and Best Man/brother John took some time to call grandma back in the East coast who was unable to travel for the big day.
Pre-Ceremony Portraits at the Golden Gate Bridge
For the First Look, we took Penny + David to the rooftop garden at the Fairmont Hotel. David was so excited to see Penny for the first time in her wedding dress that he kept his eyes closed for as long as he could even after Penny tapped him on the shoulder to turn around. David loved to kiss Penny on the hand and Penny loved to feel the beard.
We then proceeded to a great location to get some photos in front of one of San Francisco’s well known landmarks, the iconic Golden Gate bridge. The weather was absolutely amazing that day! Penny also wanted to take some photos at the Palace of Fine Arts, but unfortunately we did not have the time, but we will hit on that soon.
Ceremony photos at Swedenborgian Church
Family and friends traveled from near and far for Penny + David’s San Francisco wedding at Swedenborgian Church. They all got a special treat with the beautiful church filled with sounds of the bagpiper piping during the wedding processional. There was even the unique Scottish traditions of Penny + David drinking from the quaich together and David draping the shoulder plaid and brooch over Penny towards the end of the ceremony.
Reception photos at Swedenborgian Church
Just prior to the reception starting, we took Penny + David just up the street to the Lyon Street steps for a couple of photos. We got back just in time for Penny + David to make their way and be introduced for the reception. It was a small and intimate reception which had plenty of activities for the kids and touching mother/son and father/daughter dances.
We had such a great time driving up to spend the day with some amazing people for this destination wedding in San Francisco. Getting back to the topic of the Palace of Fine Arts, I noticed the picture frame in Penny’s getting ready room was of the Palace of Fine Arts, so I took a photo of it with full intent of using it as a double exposure later and this result happened all in camera.
Penny + David, we hope that you guys enjoy the sneak peak thus far and are enjoying your honeymoon in Canada shredding out there on the mountains of Whistler. We will talk to you very soon!
