Wedding at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden
Morgan + Jonathan
This wedding is a special one since its between our good friends Jonathan and Morgan. We have known Jonathan for awhile being that he is in my Army National Guard unit and we have gotten to know Morgan throughout the years as he has brought her along to different Guard functions here and there. The other special thing about this wedding is the venue that it was located, Storrier Stearns Japanese Gardens in Pasadena. It is not every day where a bride can say that her great grandfather was the original designer of the Japanese garden at a venue. This is the case for Morgan and the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden. =)
Getting Ready photos at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden
Both Morgan and Jonathan opted to both get ready at this special venue for them. Since it was a small, intimate wedding consisting of mostly, if not all, family, they did not have a bridal party. We were amazed at all the DIY that Morgan and Jonathan had going on in this one. For starters, the lace on Morgan’s dress was hand-done, and everything from the bridal bouquet to boutonniere to all the decorations at the reception were all DIY. Also, since it was so intimate, all the guests made us feel welcome especially Morgan’s grandmother who is just the cutest. =)
Pre-Ceremony Portraits at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden
Prior to the ceremony, Morgan + Jonathan had a first look where they saw each other for the first time all dressed up on their big day. After they had their own private moment, we then proceeded to take a couple of portraits around Morgan’s great grandfather’s beautiful garden!

Morgan + Jonathan’s family all gathered for their small, intimate wedding at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in Pasadena. The backdrop of the tea house behind them was perfect. Akiko had everyone laughing when she mentioned the story of a boy who loved all things spicy. That’s my buddy, alright! =)

Being the winter time, it got dark and a bit cold fast. Morgan + Jonathan were prepared for this however with all the pathways lit by tea candles and each guests provided a blanket hanging from their chairs. They even had some fun activities for their guests to do such as a crossword puzzle and how to make an origami crane. The night ended with an outfit change into comfortable customized matching
By the end of the night, it was hard to leave especially after Morgan’s grandma stopped us and wanted to take a picture with us. =) She definitely is the sweetest! Morgan + Jonathan, we hope that you enjoyed your time over in Catalina this past couple of days. We will see you two soon!
